Irresistible

Listen to me read the poem:

Irresistible

Your incandescence
sucks me in.
I lose myself in you,
O daughter, of Necessity!

You mesmerize me
with your radiance;
I see worlds
beyond this brightness.

(Well, your Papa
is a higher power!)

You hold me
fast.

(I want this moment
 to last.)

***

Like a stunned
cartoon-critter,

I have to shake it off—
the flicker,
of your filament,

but I have seen
the light.
